Jim Corbett national park is located in the state of uttarakhand. It is a distance of around 260 kms from New Delhi and 173 kms from Dehradun by road.
There is never a time when one cannot visit the forest. Jim Corbett National Park can be visited around the year. The only time when safaris are not conducted in Dhikala and Bijrani zone are July, August, September and by mid of October. . Different seasons bring different charms to the jungle. One can enjoy Jhirna and Sitavani (Subject to government policies) during monsoon also.
It really depends on what one is expecting from his trip. If you are coming to Corbett just for a small family outing then one or two nights are sufficient. But if you are coming for a serious wildlife tour then sky is the limit. But in that case a stay of 4 nights is recommended.
If you are coming from Delhi by car, then head towards the Moradabad Highway And then from Moradabad via state Highway you can reach Kashipur - Ramnagar in around 6-6.5 hours.
One can also take the Modi Nagar - Meerut - Bijnor - Afzalpur - Kashipur - Ramnagar route. This route is 36 kms longer but the road is much more smoother.

2 trains also ply between Delhi and Ramnagar (The nearest town to Corbett)
A) Uttar Sampark Kranti - Departs at 4 PM from Delhi and reaches Ramnagar at 8:40 PM
B)Ranikhet exp- Departs at 10:30 PM from Delhi and reaches Ramnagar at 4:55 AM.

There are no volvo buses plying to Corbett but one can take state buses from Anand Vihar terminus Delhi.


During winters early mornings and late evenings are generally cold and the days are pleasant.
During the summers again the early morning and late evening you can experience a cold breeze, but in days you can get a touch of hotness.
During Monsoons the jungle becomes lush green and weather is very pleasant.
During Winters a muffler, woolen cap, woolen clothings and socks are recommended. And as Summers and Monsoons are pleasant, cotton T shirts are recommended. Apart from clothing carry essential medicines with you. Although Ramnagar is a flourishing town and one can get many commodities like mineral water, chocolates, cigarettes, cold drinks, cake and what not. But it is advised to carry the medicines with you all the time. Sports/Trekking shoes, caps, sunglasses, sunscreens are supposed to be handy.
A) NEVER and I repeat NEVER enter the forest on foot or on your own vehicle until accompanied with a trained professional. Corbett has a healthy population of Tigers, Leopards, Elephants and many reptiles. So for your own safety follow this instruction.

B) Do not enter the river without consulting your local support staff.

C) Avoid wearing bright coloured clothes like red, yellow etc.

D) Do not wear any kind of perfumes/deodorants. This not only disturbs the wildlife but also decreases your chances of sighting.

E) Never throw anything in the forest area.

F) Never get off your gypsy during the safari until and unless your guide tells you to.

G) Do not shout or talk loudly while on a safari if you really wish to enjoy wildlife.
